SORL1 and Alzheimer disease: SORLA, encoded by the gene SORL1, is highly implicated in AD risk and is a specific endosomal sorting receptor that traffics cellular cargo, such as the amyloid precursor protein, via the retrograde and recycling endosomal pathways (Knupp et al., 2020; Andersen et al., 2022; Mishra et al., 2022; Szabo et al., 2022; Jensen et al., 2023).
