TNIK protein levels were significantly reduced in both the hippocampus (control group, 0.42 ± 0.03; epilepsy group, 0.25 ± 0.01; P < 0.05) and the adjacent cortex (control group, 0.46 ± 0.01; epilepsy group, 0.33 ± 0.02; P < 0.05) compared with the levels in the corresponding controls (control, n = 6; epilepsy, n = 6) (Fig. 3A).
