On the other hand, the lack of independent association between MetS and higher HOMA-IR does not seem to depend on a lack of reliability of the latter to identify insulin resistance in people with SCI, since in a recent study by Farkas et al. [49], HOMA-IR and Quantitative Insulin-sensitivity Check Index (QUICKI) were the indices of insulin sensitivity with the best agreement with the intravenous glucose tolerance test in this population.
