GLP1R and diabetes mellitus: Significant cardiovascular trials, such as LEADER (Liraglutide Effect and Action in Diabetes: Evaluation of Cardiovascular Outcome Results) and SUSTAIN-6 (Trial to Evaluate Cardiovascular and Other Long-term Outcomes With Semaglutide in Subjects With Type 2 Diabetes), have shown that GLP-1 receptor agonists can effectively decrease major adverse cardiovascular events, such as cardiovascular death, nonfatal myocardial infarction, and nonfatal stroke, in patients with Type 2 diabetes.
