In 2018, Weissenbacher et al. (2019) perfused 13 discarded human kidneys for 24 h, showing a slight improvement in histological parameters, although KIM-1, as an AKI biomarker, did not show a significant decrease over time, and lactate levels at 24 h were higher than those found in our study. The gene discussed is HAVCR1; the disease is acute kidney injury.
