The aims of the present study, performed in a cohort of subjects with liver and colon cancer undergoing surgical intervention with curative intent, were as follows: (i) to relate FVIIa-AT plasma levels with those of other hemostatic biomarkers in the TF-FVIIa pathway, ie, FVII antigen (FVII Ag), total and free TFPI, and EV-associated TF-dependent procoagulant activity; (ii) to assess the relationship with TF messenger RNA (mRNA) expression in cancer tissues; and (iii) to compare the potential predictive role of these coagulation biomarkers in patients with cancer. The gene discussed is TF; the disease is malignant colon neoplasm.
