The main component of the viral capsid, protein p72, the two structural proteins p30 (p32) and p54, and the multiprotein pp62, have been identified as the most antigenic of the proteins responsible for the induction of antibodies after natural infection (Pastor et al., 1989; Gallardo et al., 2006) and are important as serodiagnostic targets.
