These findings are consistent with the World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations to use LF-LAM to detect active TB in PLHIV with a CD4 cell count of <100 cells/μl and to use Histoplasma antigen to detect disseminated histoplasmosis in PLHIV.22,23 PCR was the most sensitive method among the samples tested for pulmonary forms of the disease.
