Measurements of insulin sensitivity index (ISI) and evaluations of HOMA-IR in patients with impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) and in diabetes mellitus revealed that the administration of AT1R antagonist valsartan effectively reduces resting fasting insulin levels, elevates ISI and adiponectin levels, and decreases HOMA-IR and high sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) in the IGT group [119]. This evidence concerns the gene INS and diabetes mellitus.
