Bedaquiline (BDQ), a diarylquinoline, was approved in 2012 by the Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of MDR-TB (10) and it inhibits the adenosine triphosphate (ATP) synthase encoded by atpE gene of Mtb. Cohort studies reported that success rates of MDR-TB treatment with BDQ-containing regimens was 70–80% (11–13). Here, ATP5F1E is linked to tuberculosis.
