PECAM1 and hematoma: To verify whether the speed of hematoma remodeling depends on the mechanical stability of the fracture fixation, we chose a bone healing model with increased interfragmentary movement due to a less stable fixation (“semi‐rigid fixation”).[3] Compared to rigid fixation, the mechanically challenged fracture gap showed delayed hematoma remodeling under semi‐rigid fixation as illustrated by a lack of blood vessels, while a diffuse signal of CD31‐positive platelets was still visible at the distal side of the gap (Figure 1C).
