PDGF-CC preferentially binds to and signals through PDGFR-αα involved in multiple biological processes such as atherosclerosis, diabetic cardiovascular disease, myocardial infarction, lipid metabolism, and angiogenesis, suggesting that PDGF-CC plays an essential role in the progression of vascular lesions [11–14]. The gene discussed is CXCR1; the disease is atherosclerosis.
