The AML patients with cardiac injury had higher WBC counts (P < 0.001) and marrow blasts (P = 0.007), and a higher percentage of gene mutations, such as NPM1 (P < 0.001), FLT3 (P < 0.001), Ras (P = 0.021), WT1 (P = 0.003) and JAK2 (P = 0.002), when compared to the patients without cardiac injury. Here, NPM1 is linked to acute myeloid leukemia.
