Interestingly, infection of neutrophils with a strain of Y. pestis that only expresses YopK, which has been reported to inhibit NLRP3 inflammasome activation in macrophages [53,54], does not inhibit LTB4 synthesis (Fig 4C) [26], supporting the possibility that LTB4 synthesis may not be dependent on inflammasome activation in neutrophils.
