Immune cells of the TME can largely be either tumor-promoting/immune-suppressive, including tumor associated macrophages (TAMs), myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs), regulatory T-cells (Tregs) (Lu et al., 2019) or tumor-suppressive/immune-promoting that includes dendritic cells (DCs), cytotoxic T-cells (CD8+), natural killer (NK) cells, proinflammatory macrophages (Labani-Motlagh et al., 2020).
