In terms of animal research, Britton et al. (2014) conducted a 4‐week gavage of Lactobacillus reuteri ATCC PTA 6475 in mice with OVX‐induced osteoporosis, and observed that the supplementation of probiotics inhibited the OVX‐induced increase in bone marrow CD4+T lymphocytes (promoting generation of osteoclasts), and directly inhibited the formation of osteoclasts in vitro, thus correcting the bone loss associated with estrogen deficiency, and was considered to be a simple and cost‐effective approach to reduce the bone loss after estrogen deficiency. Here, CD4 is linked to osteoporosis.
