In summary, we proved that the hepatic Zbtb18 could increase the FXR mRNA and protein expression through direct binding to the AACTCTCT element on the promoter region of FXR. In turn, the FXR could stimulate its target genes to accelerate FAO, thereby preventing the onset and development of NAFLD. The gene discussed is ZBTB18; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
