The detection of plectin at the surface of U-251 MG and T98G cells is in line with the strongly increased plectin-specific staining of the plasma membrane in pancreatic and other types of cancer, including bile duct cholangiocarcinoma, lung adenocarcinoma, lung squamous cell carcinoma, ovarian cancer, and intestinal type stomach cancer [79]. Here, PLEC is linked to squamous cell lung carcinoma.
