The mono-unsaturated omega-9 fatty acid erucic acid (3 mg/kg) enhanced cognitive performance in drug-naïve mice and ameliorated scopolamine-induced memory impairments associated with increased phosphorylation of poly-phosphatidylinositide 3-kinase (PI3K), protein kinase C-zeta, extracellular signal-regulated kinase, cAMP-response element-binding protein, and additional protein kinase B in the hippocampus (Kim and Al, 2016). The gene discussed is PRKCZ; the disease is memory impairment.
