The mechanism may be that CE reduces the production of uric acid by reducing the activity and expression of xanthine oxidase in the liver, and regulates the expression of uric-acid-transporter-related proteins, such as URAT1 and ABCG2, that increase renal uric acid excretion and reduce the hyperuricemia caused by a high-purine yeast diet. This evidence concerns the gene ABCG2 and hyperuricemia.
