Recentering the focus on thyroid dysfunction, in a longitudinal study carried out by Antonelli A et al., which involved 358 female participants, 179 patients with SSc and 179 controls who were monitored for durations of 73 and 94 months, respectively, no discernible disparities in thyroid hormones were observed during the initial presentation; however, the levels of anti-TPO and the percentage of patients with higher anti-TPO levels were higher and statistically significant in the SSc group compared to the control group.
