In a mouse model of myocardial ischemia–reperfusion injury, they demonstrated that a single intravenous treatment at the time of reperfusion with irbesartan-NP, but not with irbesartan solution, inhibited the recruitment of inflammatory monocytes to the heart, reduced infarct size via PPARγ-dependent anti-inflammatory mechanisms, and improved heart remodeling. Here, PPARG is linked to myocardial ischemia.
