A study conducted in diabetic and non-diabetic apolipoprotein-E-knockout (ApoE−/−) mice discovered that mice with an Ins2 gene mutation, and hence spontaneous type 1 diabetes (T1D), on an apoE-deficient background had decreased expression of lipolysis-stimulated lipoprotein receptor (LSR) in the liver [36]. Here, LSR is linked to type 1 diabetes mellitus.
