Similarly, autoimmune hypothyroidism was found to be more frequent in patients with hepatitis C than in non-infected individuals; both hepatocytes and lymphocytes demonstrated an elevated production of IFN-γ and IFN-γ inducible chemokines, namely, CXCL10, while ATD patients have elevated concentrations of CXCL10, particularly when accompanied by hypothyroidism [147,148,149].
