Since elevated IGFBP6 concentrations are considered to be associated with hepatic steatosis [31], this observation might imply a rather inverse correlation between weight loss-associated chemerin decline and improvement in hepatic metabolism, especially under caloric restriction—whereas chemerin concentrations at study baseline were not predictive for LCD-induced subsequent improvement in hepatic fibrosis, as was mentioned above.
