This study examined the effect of a balanced diet of low saturated fat, increased fruit and vegetable consumption, and achievable goals in physical activity on whole genome methylation and specific genes related to obesity, metabolism, and growth (IGF2, RXRA, PPARGC1A, and MEST) in the cord blood of children of obese mothers. The gene discussed is PPARGC1A; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
