Notably, the well-known Alzheimer’s disease APOE/APOC1/TOMM40 region has been associated with verbal memory phenotypes in a number of studies [55,56,57], and a large meta-analysis additionally identified significant signals at CDH18, NT5DC2, STAB1, ITIH1, ITIH4, and PBRM1 and implicated synaptic and neurodevelopmental genes [57]. This evidence concerns the gene NT5DC2 and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
