The CD44, CD133, Lgr5 and Notch pathways are frequently targeted to eliminate colorectal CSCs (Table 1), whereas the Wnt/β-catenin pathway is relatively rarely investigated, perhaps because of the constitutive activation of Wnt/β-catenin induced by APC dysfunction in approximately 85% of CRC patients.
