Another protein identified in our study as a VCI-relevantprotein,HMGB1, is a nuclear protein released upon inflammasome activation.79 Previous research has proposed HMGB1 to be abiomarker of cognitive dysfunction80 anda biomarker of Alzheimer’s disease.81 Moreover, HMGB1 was proposed to be related to CVD conditions.82−84 Vidyanti et al. suggested that HMGB1 might be a potential targetfor VCI.85 Two subunits of Nfk-b86 (REL and RELA), FLNA,87 and VKORC188 were previously relatedto VCI. Here, HMGB1 is linked to Alzheimer disease.
