The results of the present study indicate higher serum levels of the proangiogenic factors MMP-2, MMP-9, VEGF and FGF2 and HIF-1 alpha, an indicator of hypoxia, and lower serum levels of ImAnOx, a marker of oxidative stress, in cSCC patients compared to AK patients and the control group. The gene discussed is FGF2; the disease is skin squamous cell carcinoma.
