The main finding supporting the validity of our study is that serum S100B levels in patients with ischemic stroke, measured on day 1, 2 and 3, are strongly correlated with the short-term functional outcomes determined with the NIHSS on day 9 after the stroke, as well as with the long-term outcomes, which were assessed with the MRS after 3 months (Figure 1 and Figure 3). The gene discussed is S100B; the disease is stroke disorder.
