Notably, uniquely annotated genes shared between the co-methylation modules and genes co-expression modules were enriched in several pathways including axonal guidance signaling, notch signaling, WNT/beta-catenin signaling, pulmonary fibrosis idiopathic signaling and myelination signaling (Additional file 1: Fig. S2), suggesting DNA methylation changes in these pathways may potentially regulate genes in asthma pathogenesis. The gene discussed is CTNNB1; the disease is asthma.
