Again, a link of the inflammatory system with a pathogenetic role in cardiovascular disease emerges also with these proteins here detected in the investigated groups, and confirmed by the findings by Hansen et al. [46] who suggested a role of mannose-binding lectins (MBL, which form multimolecular complexes with serine proteases [47]) as prognostic information on the diabetes-induced risk of mortality. This evidence concerns the gene MBL2 and cardiovascular disorder.
