A very recent study showed that the obesity-associated LIF receptor (LIFR)/STAT3 signaling in adipocytes can modulate lipid metabolism in the liver and contribute to liver triglyceride (TG) accumulation47, which highlights the importance of the cytokine-induced inter-tissue crosstalk in metabolic dysregulation and cachexia development. Here, STAT3 is linked to obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
