Statistically significant predictors included older age, a higher BMI, the presence of acanthosis nigricans, higher diastolic BP, less severe acidosis on admission, higher triglycerides, a lower HDL-cholesterol, a lower glucose and higher fasting C-peptide at 3 weeks after admission and the absence of anti-GAD and anti-IA-2 antibodies. The gene discussed is PTPRN; the disease is acanthosis nigricans.
