Taken together, these data suggest a priming of the defense response through enhanced antioxidant activity and redox homeostasis shared between resistant cultivars, while AC Emerson further demonstrates amplified enrichment of cellular detoxification through increased glutathione S-transferase activity, as well as enrichment of chitinases and glucosidases capable of degrading fungal cell walls upon infection. The gene discussed is HPGDS; the disease is infection.
