When comparing sepsis and CIP groups, sepsis exhibited hypermethylation in the TNFAIP8 gene (approximately 10% hypermethylated in the septic group), hypomethylation in the IL1B gene (20% hypomethylated in the sepsis group), and hypomethylation in the TREM1 gene (7% hypomethylated in the sepsis group) (Figures 5H, F, respectively). Here, TREM1 is linked to hereditary sensory and autonomic neuropathy.
