LTF and irritable bowel syndrome: Faecal calprotectin and lactoferrin show good sensitivity (calprotectin: 0.978, lactoferrin: 0.81–0.82) and specificity (calprotectin: 0.682; lactoferrin: 0.71–0.82) [72, 73]; however, a minority of people with active IBD may not show elevated levels of calprotectin or lactoferrin [74, 75].
