Interestingly, these genes, as well as many other DEGs found in our study, participate in lipid biosynthesis and fatty acid degradation in cancer (SCD1, SCD5, FASN, ACSL1, ACSL4, ACSS2, LPIN1), lipolysis (LIPE, PLIN5, PNPLA3), transport and uptake (CD36, RBP3) and lipid storage/lipid droplets (ACAT2) (see Supplementary Table 9)39,41–43. The gene discussed is PLIN5; the disease is cancer.
