Interestingly, these genes, as well as many other DEGs found in our study, participate in lipid biosynthesis and fatty acid degradation in cancer (SCD1, SCD5, FASN, ACSL1, ACSL4, ACSS2, LPIN1), lipolysis (LIPE, PLIN5, PNPLA3), transport and uptake (CD36, RBP3) and lipid storage/lipid droplets (ACAT2) (see Supplementary Table 9)39,41–43. This evidence concerns the gene ACSS2 and cancer.
