GSTM1 and anemia (phenotype): Anaemia is a pathophysiological condition in which the level of haemoglobin (Hb) and/or the quantity of red blood cells are lower than established threshold values, thereby impairing the capacity of the oxygen-carrying to tissues.1 It has been claimed to be the most common nutritional deficiency in pregnancy across the world, bringing a high burden to developed and developing countries.2 3 Anaemia in pregnancy constitutes a global public health challenge with its high prevalence.
