Nonetheless, if considered together; the increase in BDNF mRNA in the female amygdala, as a result of deletion of BE5.1, together with the increase in anxiety-like behaviour in female BE5.1KO mice, and the significant association of the A-allele of BE5.1 to anxiety in humans, provides a compelling case for further studies of the role of BE5.1 in anxiety.
