Interestingly, we observed 28 significantly (P < 0.01) enriched gene sets (Fig S6) of which 12 were associated with immunological processes such as “cytokines and inflammatory response” (ES: 0.76, Biocarta), “inflammatory response” (ES: 0.54, Hallmark), and “TNFα signaling via NFκB” (ES: 0.50, Hallmark) (Figs 5B and S6), implicating a role of C22orf46 in shaping tumor expression profiles towards a more carcinogenic state involving immune-regulatory genes. The gene discussed is TNF; the disease is neoplasm.
