The expression of ATG7 was decreased in brain tissues from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)-frontotemporal dementia (FTD) patients, and upregulation of ATG7 could alleviate motor neuron dysfunction associated with deficiency of TARDBP/TDP-43 (TAR DNA binding protein) [44]. This evidence concerns the gene ATG7 and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.
