OXR1 and Alzheimer disease: It remains to be observed which specific proteins or lipids are being mistrafficked, which result in neurodegeneration and reduction of lifespan with loss of OXR1. It is also not yet known if variants in genes that regulate OXR1 might be associated with AD, as it seems that overall age-related decline in OXR1 is more likely the cause for its associations with neurodegeneration.
