We previously showed that secretome of EAT but not of subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) from AF patients reduces expression of Kcnj2. Kcnj2 is a gene encoding Kir2.1, which is a subunit of the K+ channel responsible for the inward rectifier K+ current during cardiac repolarization. This evidence concerns the gene KCNJ2 and atrial fibrillation.
