The example of the AKAP9 gene, which was previously not associated with the process of thyroid carcinogenesis—but is indicated in our work for the first time as potentially useful in the diagnosis of this cancer—shows that the search for genes with differential expressions in thyroid cancer and benign non-cancerous lesions (not requiring invasive treatment methods) is still needed. Here, AKAP9 is linked to thyroid gland carcinoma.
