Transgenic mice expressing human Tau with lysine-to-glutamine mutations to mimic K274 and K281 acetylation exhibited AD-related memory deficits and impaired LTP, but in another study enhancement of p300/CBP acetyltransferase activity rescued the defects in memory and synaptic plasticity in a THY-Tau22 mouse model of tauopathy [136,139]. The gene discussed is MAPT; the disease is Alzheimer disease.
