EGFR and neoplasm: miR-7-5p has been shown to inhibit cell proliferation in vitro [36,38], following transfection into PTC cell lines and there is a negative correlation between miR-7-5p and insulin receptor substrate 2 and epidermal growth factor receptor expression, suggesting a tumour suppressive role for miR-7-5p [39]; however, oncogenic roles for miR-7-5p have also been described [38].
