Comprehensive genomic classification of cutaneous melanoma was achieved in 2015 via a systematic multi-platform characterization performed by the Cancer Genome Atlas Network [34], whereby the subdivision of cutaneous melanoma in the four types of mutant BRAF, mutant RAS (N/H/R), mutant NF1 and triple wild-type (triple WT) emerged.
