In these studies, the authors demonstrated that orange juices up-regulate the expression of detoxification and antioxidant response genes (gcs-1, gst-4, sod-3, hsp-4 or hsp-16.2) by acting through the transcription factor SKN-1, but also delaying the Aβ-amyloid-induced paralysis in a manner requiring SKN-1, DAF-16, and HSF-1 transcription factors.
